In the final chapter of And Then There Were None, Vera and Lombard feel confused ad frightened as they both agree to move him closer to the water. The next thing you know Vera stole the gun from Lombard and shoots him right in the heart. Vera then goes back to the house to get some sleep before help comes and sees three of the indian statues on the table and breaks two and holds up the third trying to remember the last line of the poem. She thinks it has something to do with marriage in it. She goes upstairs having a feeling Hugo, the man she wants to marry, is waiting for her in her bedroom. But, when she walks in she sees a noose hanging on the hook where the seaweed was. She sees that Hugo must want her to hang herself and then realizes the last line of the poem, "He went and hanged himself and then there were none." So without thinking she put her head in the noose and kicked the chair away.
In chapter fifteen the remaining three start thinking of what could have happened to Armstrong in his disappearance. While this is happening an argument has started between Lombard and Blore, Blore is saying that Lombard should give up his gun but Lomboard would never. Vera gets so stressed and gets them to stop fighting and to remember what the poem said. This leads them to think that Armstrong is not actually dead they just made it seem like he is. Bore then notices that the next line involves a zoo so he thinks it will be very difficult to kill the next person. But, then vera points out that she thinks he is going to turn them into the animals. The next morning they spend there time on a cliff trying to signal people from the main land with a mirror, but they get no answer. They decided to stay outside and avoid the house but Blore insists on going back to get something to eat. So he goes back and Lombard and Vera start talking about how Blore could be the killer. But all of the sudden, they hear a huge crash in the house. So they go and investigate and find Blore crushed by a clock that fell off the mantle. This gives them the idea that Armstrong is in the house. They immediately go back to the cliff and see something on the beach. Once they climb down and get a closer look thy notice its Armstrong's body.
In this chapter from now on every night the final four all eat canned tongue and then go to sleep. They all have an idea about who the killer is but never says it aloud. When they go up to their rooms Lombard realizes that his gun is back in the drawer. Vera lays awake thinking about the drowning that occurred when she was back home and how she thinks she was apart of it because she told Cyril's that he could make it out to the rock but in her mind she knew he would drown. Then when she goes back into the bathroom she notices there was a black hook on the ceiling where the seaweed must have been hanging from. While Blore is lying in bed he goes over the facts over and over again and tries to make them add up to lead to the killer. Then all of the sudden he hears a noise and goes into the hallway to check. He sees a figure going down the stairs and out the front door. he checks Armstrong's room and he is not their so he awakes Lombard and Vera. Lombard and him go to check outside and they tell vera to stay in her room. Vera hears a window smash and heavy footsteps outside her door. Then the men return and they have found nothing but only three little indian left and the fourth one out the window.
In chapter thirteen the group makes a promise that they will all stay together at all times. So they all sit in the drawing room with candlesticks because Rodger is no longer there to work the generator. Later that day Vera gets up to take a shower, once she walks into the bathroom she feels something wet and clammy touch her neck so she screams. All of the boys come running in an making sure she is ok, and she was because it turned out to be a piece of seaweed hanging from the ceiling. At first they thought that was meant to scare her to death but then they focused on where Wargrave was. They could not find him until they went downstairs and saw that he was sitting in a chair with the silk curtain on and a judge wig made out of Emily's sweater. They notice he has a gun shot wound in his head and is dead. Once they see all this they remember the poem and notice that the line that he died to had something to do with a judge and that is why they dressed them up like that to die.
In this chapter after breakfast Emily starts to feel woozy. Armstrong offers her a detainee but she does not accept it. Then once everyone leaves she notices a bee outside the window and can feel someone behind her. She automatically thinks it is Beatrice who is dripping wet from the River, and then she feels a prick on her neck. Then while everyone else is in the drawing room they think that Emily is the killer. But when they go in to the kitchen to check on her they find her dead, her body turning blue, and a bee outside the window. They then remember the rhyme with the bee. Once they examine her they realize that she was shot with a hypodermic syringe. Armstrong then admits that there was a syringe in his medical bag, so they all rush upstairs to check his room and it was gone. So, they all make a pact to lock away all potential weapons including Armstrong's medical case and Lombards gun. They then realize that the gun is missing and they cannot find it anywhere. When they go into the kitchen they find the syringe thrown out the window along with the sixth indian.
In this chapter Lombard awakes much later than usual. He goes downstairs and starts to question why Rogers didn't wake him this morning. They then realize that there is no sign of Rogers anywhere throughout the house. Emily then returns to the house in a raincoat from her walk around the island. Suddenly Vera discovers Rodgers body in the shed. He is dead with a stab wound in the back of his neck. Vera then starts having a breakdown realizing that all of the deaths are matching the song an the next line has to do with bees. So she starts questioning if there are any hives on the island. Vera and Emily then start cooking breakfast since rogers isn't there anymore to do that. While this happens Emily stays very calm while Vera is a nervous wreck. Then once they all eat everyone is acting calm on the outside but, nervous thoughts are flowing through their heads.
In chapter ten Vera an Lombard say they have each others backs and that they do not suspect either of each other to be the murderer. They each say who they think the murderer could be and both Armstrong and Wargrave's names come up. Then Wargrave and Armstrong start talking and Wargrave says he thinks he knows who the murderer is. Meanwhile Emily is sitting up in her room writing in her diary and her hand starts going shaky as she writes that Beatrice is the murderer. Then she can't believe that she would ever write such a thing. For a second she thinks to herself that she might be going mad. So at teatime everyone meets in the drawing room again feeling quite relaxed but then, Rogers rushes into the room saying that one of the bathroom curtains is missing. None of them know what this means but they all get nervous again. After they eat dinner they all go to bed locking there doors behind them while leaving rogers downstairs. Once he goes up to bed he locks the dining room door so that no one an remove and more indian men from the table.
In chapter nine Blore, Lombard, and Armstrong get into a disagreement. Bore says that maybe Armstrong gave Mrs.Rogers an overdose on sleeping pills wether it was on purpose or on accident. And Lombard tells Blore that he should calm down and then Blore demands an answer out of Lombard on why he has a gun. Lombard then replies that he was hired by Isaac Morris who insisted that he might find trouble and in that case he should have a gun. Then it is lunch time and and everyone comes in except for Macarthur. So, Armstrong goes to retrieve him from where he was sitting before. When he gets there him and Vera realize that something awful has happened. So they sprint back to the house and tell everyone that Macarthur is dead. Suddenly Vera and Rogers realizes that there are only seven indian statues left on the table. So, Wargrave taking charge, starts a meeting in the drawing room where everyone attends except for Rogers. Wargrave then states that one of the guests is the murderer and as soon as he said that everyone agreed except for Vera. So they all make sure that they are watching there backs at all times.
In chapter eight Blore, Armstrong, and Lombard go on a search for Mr.Owen. They come across Macarthur who is dazed and tells them he has to be alone because the end of his life is coming. So they leave reflecting that he has gone mad and that he is crazy. But, they keep looking and realize they need a rope to search in all of the caves, so Blore returns to the house to get a rope. Then Vera comes across Macarthur who is still dazed and reflecting on the end of his life. Eventually Macarthur became unaware of Vera's presence and started murmuring his dead wives name almost like he was expecting her to appear. When Blore returns with the rope he finds Armstrong thinking that Macarthur could be the killer since he seems to be going mad at the moment. But they still search for Mr.Owen and go down into some caves. They then realize there is no one out here and go back to the house. Here they then conclude that no one is on the island except for the eight of them.
In this chapter Emily and Vera go on a walk together on the island. Emily starts talking about the person the voice accused her of killing. Her name was Beatrice and she was Emily's maid. Once Beatrice got pregnant Emily threw her out of the house, and Beatrice then drowned herself once she got thrown out. Emily does not feel any remorse about the situation but Vera was horrified. Then Lombard and Armstrong consult about the death of Mrs.Rogers. They discuss that The first two lines of the indian poem relate to the two deaths that just occurred. This leads them into thinking that Mr.Owen, the owner of the island, committed those murders and is now hiding on the island. So now that are on a search to find him.
